Meet Kathryn

My goal is to help you tap into your body's inner wisdom allowing you to live your best life. I see a future where we're empowered to truly heal on a physical, mental and emotional level.

As a mom of 2, I understand just how important it is to not be weighed down by nagging pain.  As an acupuncturist and pain management expert, I know how to provide relief, allowing you and your family to truly thrive.

Pain sucks. Whether it’s headaches, a stiff neck or sore back, it doesn’t have to be really intense to steal your happiness and quality of life. My goal is to help you tap into your body’s innate ability to heal so that you can focus your time and energy on your dreams, be more present with your family, be more productive at work and recover from activities like you did when you were younger.  You deserve relief from pain, to be truly seen and heard.

I received my first acupuncture treatments to help with a back injury.  This is my body’s area of weakness and will be re-injured easily.  Each and every time, acupuncture treatments help me to quickly get back to living my life on my terms.

Acupuncture and East Asian medicine is a different way of looking at how the body works from an energetic stand point that integrates perfectly with the nerd and scientist in me. It is a way for me to be a part of healthcare and have to time to really connect with patients, understand their stories and needs while being able to provide true relief.

My private practice is centrally located downtown with a welcoming and calm environment. Two days a week I also practice at UW Health’s East Madison Hospital location on the east side of town.  As part of UW’s Integrative Health team, I am trusted and referred to by physicians.

I absolutely love what I do because I believe that together, through acupuncture and East Asian medicine, we can find freedom from pain and make the world a better place, one treatment at a time. There is no better satisfaction for me. If you’re curious how acupuncture can help you, let’s connect.

Meet Mary

The body has an incredible capacity to self-heal, and by tuning in to the natural brilliance of your body, acupuncture can assist with that process.

Growing up in a large and loving family, I was considered the “shy” one. Actually, I was just doing more listening than contributing to the noise! I loved to listen to people’s words, listen to what they were saying and what they were expressing with their body language.

At a young age, Ancient Chinese and Japanese artwork caught my interest, which led to a satisfying career as an interior designer. As a designer, being in someone’s home was a very sacred experience, and it allowed the formation of many deep relationships.

Eventually I realized that my focus was less on their furniture and decorations, and more on their health and well-being. Traditional Chinese Medicine offered an exciting avenue for being of service to my people and providing a proven and holistic method of healing them - mind, body, and spirit.

As an acupuncturist, there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing the visible changes in my patients’ faces after receiving treatment. There is an inner glow, as they leave my office less stressed, more relaxed, and in considerably less discomfort or pain.

First Visit

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are a holistic approach. As acupuncturists we believe that if one part of your body is out of balance, it will create imbalance in other areas as well. That's why we take the time to identify the underlying pattern that could be causing your discomfort.

The first 15-30 minutes we'll discuss your past and current health concerns, as well as your wellness goals for the future. You'll have a thorough intake which includes taking your pulse on both wrists, looking at your tongue and pressing on various acupressure points. Once we have established the underlying pattern of disharmony in your body, we will recommend the specific treatment that will work best for you and your health.

Your first appointment will normally take 90 minutes.

Return Appointments

The benefits to Acupuncture and traditional East Asian Medicine are cumulative. You'll want to plan for more than one visit, though most patients see some results after just the first treatment. Depending on your body, your health, and the reason you're visiting, treatment plans will often include a concentrated burst of sessions (1-2 times per week for the first few weeks) and then move into a maintenance mode with bi-weekly treatments as needed.

After your first visit, your follow up appointments will normally take 60 minutes.
