Sacral Chakra
Think of a bright fiery orange circle, spinning slowly right below your belly button – this is the Sacral Chakra, seat of our emotions and pleasure. It is associated with the water element, so envision warm waves of this pleasure radiating from the sacral center out to your body, mind, and spirit, like ripples on a pond or waves on a lake. Our Sacral Chakra is sometimes referred to as the “Passion Chakra”, and when it is awakened, we are likely to experience pleasure, more vivid emotions, a higher level of creativity, and more intimate relationships.

When our Sacral Chakra is either blocked or overloaded, things do not flow so well. We may notice physical manifestations ranging from low back pain and menstrual/fertility/urination problems, to emotional eating or sexual addiction. Psychologically, we may experience everything from creative stagnation or shallow relationships, to mood swings or panic attacks. Or, we may not notice anything, just numbly going along.
Reiki works with the energy of the chakras to support us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Even when clients may not be attuned to issues in the body/mind/spirit, Reiki goes where it is needed.
As an example, at his most recent appointment, Glen did not have any particular issues he wanted to address. He normally feels a lot of warmth through the Reiki Master’s hands as they move from crown to feet, and after the session feels very relaxed and restored. This time was different, though. He is recovering from prostate cancer surgery in which he had his prostate removed. When she had her hands on his Sacral Chakra region, he felt an intense sensation in the internal area where his prostate would have been. It wasn’t a painful feeling, but it was definitely pin-pointed to a specific region. After the session, in talking about the experience, he feels that the energy was going to where healing needed to happen. He shared that he has been struggling with some of the other physical and psychological issues related to the sacral chakra, as well, such as communication issues with his adult son, stiffness in movement, and low back pain. He left the session feeling more aware and attuned, armed with some ideas about what he could do to address his blockages.
